GEAR UP

What is GEAR UP?

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) initiative is a seven-year program that focuses on increasing the college and career readiness of students in communities nationwide.

GEAR UP operates on three strategic goals:

  1. Increasing the postsecondary expectations and readiness of students
  2. Improving high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment rates
  3. Raising the knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and financing among students and families

Our Mission

We build the capacity of communities to ensure that students have the opportunity, skills, and knowledge to successfully pursue the education and training that will enable them to achieve their career and life goals. We work toward a future where all students are empowered and equipped with the education and training needed to succeed in a diverse and global society.

The GEAR UP program at Edinburg High School, part of the Region One Education Service Center College Now grant, services students in the current Class of 2024 cohort. Students are provided various services to meet their academic, career, and social and emotional needs.
