JROTC

"To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens."
-JROTC Mission

Our Mission

To motivate high school students and teach our JROTC cadets the value of citizenship, leadership, service to community, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment while instilling self-esteem, teamwork and self-discipline.

Our Vision

Develop moral, ethical, and productive individuals who positively contribute to society while instilling self-esteem.

Our Goals

  • Encourage and educate the importance of giving to the community.
  • Promote cadets to come out of their comfort zone, allowing them to be able to speak in front of others, and gain confidence.
  • Learn the importance of proper diet and physical fitness to maintain good health, appearance, and self-esteem.
  • Develop leadership potential. The JROTC program provides students with a wide range of opportunities to test themselves in leadership roles such as leading a drill team and performing a staff job.

Awards and Recognitions

We are a Honor Unit with Distinction. An Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) is one that has demonstrated exceptional performance in all areas of program operation. In order to be awarded this rating, the JROTC program must score between 90-100% on the annual Unit Report, and 95-100% on the JROTC Program of Accreditation, an inspection performed every 3 years.

Edinburg High School, Bobcat Battalion, Army JROTC earned this honor during the JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) as evaluated by an inspection team led by the U.S. Army Cadet Command, 5th Brigade Chief of JROTC, Mr. Larry Haynes, on Wednesday, December 16, 2019. The JROTC Cadets were evaluated in the following areas:

  •     Battalion Staff Continuous Improvement Brief
  •     Service Learning Briefing
  •     Cadet Portfolios and Interviews
  •     Unit Report
  •     All-Battalion In-ranks Inspection
  •     Color Guard and Cadre Portfolios

The EHS Bobcat Battalion Army JROTC program received a 99.5% score on the overall JPA evaluation. A score of at least 95% is required to earn HUD. Programs can either earn a rating of HUD, Proficient, or Unsatisfactory. Our Bobcat Cadets did a fantastic job led by our leadership team consisting of C/LTC Angel Charles, C/CSM Sergio De Leon, and C/MAJ Xaneri Jimenez.

Our Bobcat Battalion is due to be inspected this current school year once again. We look forward to achieving the same excellent results under the direction of our new Cadet Battalion Command Leadership, C/LTC Angelique Navarro, C/CSM Iovanna Charles, and C/MAJ Eddie Flores.
