HOSA PSA - A WINDOW TO THE PAST VIDEO
Edinburg High School's Public Service Announcement project focuses on promoting brain health awareness among young adults aged 16-30, specifically targeting high school students, college students, and young professionals. This PSA, developed for the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) competition, aims to challenge the common misconception that Alzheimer's prevention begins in later life. The project recognizes that our target audience, being digital natives and generally health-conscious individuals, has significant potential to implement early preventive measures and influence their families' health choices. By emphasizing that brain health decisions made during youth directly impact cognitive function later in life, the PSA will highlight how preventive measures are most effective when started early. The message centers on empowering young people to adopt brain-healthy habits during their most formative years through simple lifestyle modifications involving diet, exercise, mental stimulation, and social engagement.
Through this competition entry, Edinburg High School aims to establish itself as a leader in youth health education while inspiring immediate action among young people to protect their future brain health. The PSA's ultimate goal is to create a ripple effect of awareness and positive change, as young adults implement these practices and share their knowledge with older generations, fostering a community-wide understanding of early brain health intervention.
The following PSA was produced by EHS HOSA students, Alena Santacruz, Nayvelin Ortiz, Roberta Tavera, Ashley Tamayo, Alizon Garza, and Mia Hidalgo to bring awareness on Alzheimer’s disease.
