We are thrilled to announce and celebrate a groundbreaking achievement in Edinburg High's athletic history. Cassandra Medrano, a junior at our school, has etched her name in the annals of greatness by becoming the first wrestler from Edinburg High School to secure a State Championship at this year's UIL Texas Wrestling Championships held at CyFair, Texas.

 

Cassandra competed in the fiercely contested 100 lb weight class, displaying unparalleled skill, determination, and resilience throughout the tournament. Her dominance was nothing short of spectacular, winning all four matches and finishing the season with a perfect, undefeated record of 38-0. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to Cassandra's dedication, commitment, and relentless pursuit of excellence in the sport of wrestling.

 

From the outset of the season, Cassandra set her goals high and embarked on a rigorous training regimen, participating in the Summer Strength and Conditioning workouts alongside our football athletes. Her work ethic and unwavering focus have not only propelled her to individual success but have also elevated the entire girls wrestling program. Cassandra's impact on and off the mat makes her not only a dominating force but an awesome teammate who inspires and motivates those who train with her daily.

Cassandra Medrano's historic victory resonates far beyond the confines of the wrestling mat. It symbolizes the embodiment of dedication, hard work, and the relentless pursuit of one's dreams.
